The Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, is responsible for the global management of all programmatic activities including enterprise development, and program related investments.

Mark Gunton

Mark Gunton serves as CEO of the Enterprise Partnership. Before joining in February 2012, Mark spent 28 years in business and finance roles in Fortune 500 companies, mostly in the areas of supply chain and logistics. He has previously held global board positions at TNT Express, as CFO and separately as Managing Director of a $1 billion unit spanning the continents of North America, South America, Africa, and parts of Asia.

Mark has worked extensively, at operational level, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. He has lead four acquisitions / integrations in emerging markets over the past five years with investment totaling $500 million. He is known for his activities in the areas of corporate responsibility. He is founder of the hugely successful roadside clinic network in Africa, the Northstar Alliance. In TNT he also pioneered the school-feeding employee twinning program with the World Food Programme. Prior to TNT, Mark worked for Dun and Bradstreet and Davy McKee in London, and KFC in Sydney.

He has a Bachelors degree in International Development from the University of East Anglia, UK, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

Scott Taitel

Scott Taitel serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Enterprise Partnership. As Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for the financial, operational, and project management oversight of economic development, supply chain, distribution, health ,and nutrition projects in multiple countries throughout Latin America as well as the expansion of the Enterprise Partnership’s activities into other countries. Scott also oversees the Enterprise Partnership’s impact investment funds. Prior to joining the Clinton Foundation, Mr. Taitel was a Managing Partner of Waypoint Investments, a venture capital firm, where he managed an international investment portfolio and served in interim management roles in portfolio companies. His prior experience also includes roles as President and Chief Operating Officer for TASKING B.V., a Netherlands based software company with operations in six countries; CFO and Vice President of Active Control eXperts, an Inc. 500 OEM manufacturer of piezoelectric motion control devices and as Vice President of Intermetrics Microsystems Software, Inc. a software developer with operations in the US, Europe and Asia. His earlier career was as an economic development planner with both City and Community Action Agencies.

Scott has an undergraduate degree in Policy Studies from Syracuse University and an MBA from Northeastern University where he taught various Financial Management courses for 15 years as an adjunct faculty member. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance at New York University at the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Carolina Botero

As the Enterprise Investment Director for the Enterprise Partnership, Carolina Botero leads the valuation of investment opportunities looking to incorporate auto-sustainable companies with high social impact returns to be funded through the Enterprise Partnership Initiative in conjunction with Fundación Carlos Slim.

She has been an Investment Banker for 19 years in the areas of Project Finance, M & A and Capital Markets. Throughout her career, she has worked for Colombian leading boutique investment banks such as Inverlink and Latinvestco, and multinational corporations including Fitch Ratings, ABN AMRO, BNP Paribas, and HSBC.

Carolina holds a BS from CESA Business School in Colombia and an MSc in International Securities Investment and Banking from the University of Reading, England.

Monica Varela

As the Enterprise Partnership´s Enterprise Development Director, Monica Varela leads the identification of new enterprises development opportunities, coordinates supply and demand analysis and market research, and supports the design and incorporation of new enterprises. In this role, Monica supervises pilot projects or pre-incorporation enterprises to test development models and build business cases.

During her career, Monica has worked with USAID, the IDB, and private companies in structuring and implementing economic development programs, mainly related to capacity building for small producers, market linkages and inclusive businesses. Her academic background includes a Law Degree from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia and a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies from the London School of Economics.

James Jenkin

James Jenkin has joined the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership as the Director of Enterprise Management. James’ role is to help ensure that the businesses within the Enterprise Partnership’s portfolio are operating optimally and well-positioned to meet their targets for both financial and social returns.

James commenced his career as an international corporate attorney practicing in Australia and Europe before transitioning into various senior executive management positions, mainly in the supply chain and logistics field. Previous roles he has held include Director of Group Mergers and Acquisitions for the global transportation company TNT and more recently Director of Strategy, Planning and CSR for TNT’s American, Middle Eastern, African and Asian business units. In parallel to his commercial career James oversaw many of TNT’s philanthropic and environmental programs helping the company to become an industry leader of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. James was a co-founder of the North Star Alliance, a non profit public/private partnership providing basic health care to long distance truck divers and other hard to reach communities in Africa.

In 2010 James accepted a rather different challenge as the Executive Director of the New York non-profit arts organization Printed Matter Inc. James holds a combined Bachelor of Arts/Law (honors) majoring in political science from the University of Tasmania. James is Australian but has happily called Brooklyn home since 2008.
